Dongguan is located at the south-central part of Guangdong Province. It is an important transportation hub and foreign trade port of Guangdong Province. It is also a significant member of the international processing industry, also known as the "world factory".
Dongguan's convenient transportation and densely-covered highways and the Express Rail Link have narrowed the distance with other GBA cities.
Dongguan's five pillar manufacturing industries include electronic information, electrical machinery and equipment; textile, garment, shoes and accessories; food and beverage processing, and papermaking and paper products. Among which, smart phones, flat display and electronic parts, etc., are the leading development areas of manufacturing industry.

Development and Planning of Related Policy
In 2019, "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" was issued with a view to developing Dongguan as a cluster of world-class high-end manufacturing industries and to build a globally competitive modern industrial system.
Since 2016, multiple Youth Innovation Entrepreneurship Bases and start-up incubators have been developed to provide recruitment services, policy consultation, start-up financing, product commercialisation service, resources sharing, etc. in order to support youth entrepreneurship.
On 11 July 2019, "Implementation Measures of Promoting Hong Kong and Macao Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Dongguan Songshan Lake High-tech Zone" was issued to provide employment, living, interning subsidies as well as subsidies for the Individual Income Tax (“IIT”) differences to attract talents from Hong Kong and Macao.
