Founded in Hong Kong in 1874, Leigh & Orange (L&O) has evolved into an established international architectural practice operating across Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, the Mainland, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

 

L&O has been actively involved in designing various developments across the whole of Mainland China and was one of the first Hong Kong professional design practices to enter the Mainland China market. Headquartered in Hong Kong with branch offices in Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Macao and Doha, the firm is ranked among the world’s ‘Top 100’ architectural practices by World Architecture 100 (WA100).

Projects
Future Times Phase II, Qianhai, Shenzhen, China

This Phase II development is sitting above an existing depot podium at Li Yue Mun Station. It consists of office, retail, and an education complex. Within this “Central Park”, there are various low-density and high-rise building typologies e.g. the Fund Town office villas, super high-rise office twin towers, interconnected with sunken plaza and landscaped retails street aims to promote a new work-life style in this new CBD has becoming a TOD model project in PRC. Layers of public spaces are connected via green corridors in a central park like setting. These flexible spaces encourage social interactions and outdoor activities.

Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, Guangzhou, China

Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre is a 530m, 112-storey super high-rise tower with hotel, serviced hotel, office and a retail mall podium. The project is adjacent to a large central park and a subterranean retail concourse with transportation interchanges, integrating the project into the city and the wider region.

The building employs a number of energy efficient tools to reduce its environmental footprint. In addition to its strong multi-level connections to public transportation, the use of high-efficiency chillers and heat recovery from the water-cooled chiller condensers all contribute to the building’s sustainability.

One Palace, Shenzhen, China

Located within the new CBD district of Shenzhen, Futian GangXia on a large urban block that is adjacent to the newly built Convention Centre and the proposed iconic OMA Corona. It is a mixed-use development that encompasses luxurious apartment towers, high-end retail and commercial podium with basement and an elementary and kindergarten school.

One of the challenges of this project is to integrate organically different programmes – namely retail, apartments, a private club and an exhibition hall – within these constrained sites. Due to its prime location, the redevelopment is set to become the commercial centre of the district.
