The construction industry is being rapidly transformed by innovative technology, driving a shift towards intelligence and sustainability. The recent "2025 International Urban and Construction Industry Forum", jointly organised by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Construction Industry Sub-Council, was successfully held at CIC-Zero Carbon Park. The forum brought together nearly 120 experts, scholars, and corporate representatives from the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong to jointly explore industry innovation and sustainable development pathways.
The forum commenced with a welcome address by our Executive Director, Ir Albert CHENG, followed by an opening speech delivered by Mr. Victor TAI, Deputy Secretary for Housing Bureau. Focusing on the two core themes of “Smart Cities” and “Smart Construction”, several industry experts shared practical experiences and forward-looking insights on topics including Hong Kong’s positioning in digitalisation in the construction sector, collaboration on building standards within the Greater Bay Area, the application of low-altitude economy, and smart construction technologies.
The afternoon roundtable discussion, themed “Innovative Explorations in Building Smart Cities”, saw participants engaging in in-depth exchanges on urban renewal, green development, and smart urban transport systems, promoting a deeper understanding of the sector and exploring opportunities for cooperation.
This forum not only deepened the industry’s understanding of smart construction and sustainable urban development but also reinforced Hong Kong’s dual role as a “Super Connector” and “Super Value-Adder”. Through face-to-face interactions, participants established valuable professional networks, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration. We will continue to work closely with the industry to actively promote the implementation of innovative technologies, facilitating a digital and green transformation of the construction sector, and jointly creating a smarter, greener, and more livable future.
